Aqua-Guards
Swimming Safety & Rescue

Established in 1996 while teaching my own children along with their friends to swim, I realized children's capacity to learn and perform measures to take before entering a swimming pool and the primary skills of self-rescue and assisting others experiencing difficulty while swimming.

And, thus, the three tenants of the Aqua-Guards program:

1. Meeting a new pool checklist

2. Self rescue

3. Assisting another swimmer

Children are often the first to notice another child struggling and in need of assistance. After adding swimming safety and awareness to our swim lessons, on three different occasions I witnessed my son swiftly and calmly assure and assist another child he noticed having difficulty in the water.

Drowning is categorized as an "accidental death," "unintentional injury death," and "unintentional drowning" which indicates it is avoidable. Yet, even the most current guidelines for keeping children safe around swimming pools are limited to building fences, locking gates, and adult supervision; none of which include enlisting the participation of children themselves.

A not so fun fact:

Even those who can swim can drown

An important fact:

Even those who cannot swim can prevent drowning

The Aqua-Guards Swimming Safety & Rescue program educates and empowers children to be a mighty and valuable layer of protection against drowning . . . and the squadron is growing.

Wherever your children learn to swim, insist they also be Aqua-Guards trained!

Trained to keep Children Swimming Safer

Aqua-Guards by SwimVerse . . .

I began swimming competitively 55 years ago, began teaching lessons and coaching 45 years ago, and suffered the loss of my 17-year old son thirteen years ago (not to drowning), so the best way to convey how precious children are to me is to say:  There is nothing more important I can teach children than the swimming safety and rescue skills of Aqua-Guards.

As a private swimming instructor, on average I reach approximately 50 children/year . . . this is a start, but imagining how many more children can be Aqua-Guards trained and potentially spared from drowning is why launching my safety & rescue program for children as a business in 2022 is an exciting priority.

My quest is to certify swim instructors and employ Aqua-Guards Master Trainers to teach along with me across the country to their lesson children, competitive swimmers, school P.E. classes, Scout clubs, etc.

If you are motivated to support my goal to lower the statistics for childhood drowning by building the Aqua-Guards Squadron of water confident children I'd love to hear from you!
